Artist, John Debold: PAINTINGS of the UnordinaryVariety

A MIDWESTERN CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVE

May 23 – June 30, 2015

Born in St. Ann, Missouri on a hot midsummer night in 1986, John has lived most of his life in Fredericktown, MO. A 2004 FHS graduate, John continued his education at Mineral Area College, where he obtained his Associate Degree. Currently employed at Graphic Options in Farmington as a vinyl installer, John notes “I have created and sold visual art most of my life, but have only taken my career as an artist seriously over the past five years, which is why I’m subtitling this exhibit Highlights From The Past 3 Years. I know this sounds like a contradiction, but I spent two of the past five years developing my style and experimenting with various mediums, with the last three years resulting in creation. I predominately work in oil, but include pencil, pen & ink, and multi-media (collage) in my repertoire. I have also dabbled in sculpture, using both plaster and clay to form my work.”

During his adult life, John has served as an Artist in Residence at the Glass House Pottery Studio in Farmington, MO and has exhibited his work in many venues, with the most recent being at the Subterranean Bookstore on Delmar Street in St. Louis. The work featured in this one man show John considers a product of his focus over the past five years. “The artistic exercises represented in this exhibit have created a voice for future paintings, explains the artist. We are all a product of the decisions of our past; while it is the past that frames our future.”

A Meet The Artist Reception will be held on Saturday, May 23 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at The Gallery – 101 E. Pinckney Street – Marquand, MO - 573-783-5609 – refreshments provided.
